NYC-Area Fact Sheets on MTA 2008-2013 Capital Plan
The Metropolitan Transit Authority's $29.5 billion capital program for 2008-2013 is an ambitious plan which will bring the NYC metropolitan area's transit network closer to a state of good repair and will expand the system so it can better serve its current riders and absorb expected population growth in the NYC region over the coming decades.
However, the MTA has been unable to identify enough sources of revenue to fully fund the plan, putting service improvements and system expansion projects at risk. One critical source of funding that city and state legislators must approve is congestion pricing.
