Seeking More Affiliate Members
On September 16, Janine Bauer spent the day in Long Island, getting a feel for the number and type of groups that would be interested in becoming affiliate members and/or pursuing the Campaign's agenda. She met Van Howell, Foghorn; members of the Progressive Coalition; Susan Blake of Peacesmiths; Michael Hughs of NYSPA (and formerly of LILCO); Donna Plunkett, RPA's representative in Long Island; Gayle Heron, LI Regional Transit Association; Neil Lewis, Nassau Neighborhood Network, and attended the Long Island Association (essentially a chamber of commerce) meeting in the late afternoon. The LIA held its economic on Weds. September 21; the Campaign submitted comments on its transportation committee report. Janine will spend another day in L.I. soon, meeting with representatives of Citizens' Campaign for the Environment, Group for the South Fork, and the Veatch Foundation.
