No Increase in PA Tolls in 1995
Despite a projected $20 million budget gap, the Port Authority will hold the line on bridge and tunnel tolls during 1995. Spokespeople for the agency said that the shortfall would be met instead with cost-cutting measures (PATH fares were not mentioned in recent articles). On the other hand, NJ Governor Whitman said recently she had not ruled out gas tax and highway toll increases to help refill New Jersey's Transportation Trust Fund. (S.I. Advance, Star Ledger)
