Westchester Association Opposes I-287 HOV Lane
The Westchester Association, the county's largest and most influential business/civic alliance, is preparing a statement of opposition to the NY Dept. of Transportation's planned HOV lane addition to the Cross-Westchester Expressway/I-287, to be issued in late October. Campaign affiliate Maureen Morgan is collaborating closely with the Association on the substance and strategy of the statement. Maureen was featured prominently in a front-page 9/26 Gannett article on opposition to the highway widening, which also cited Regional Plan Assn director Bob Yaro's contention that HOV lanes had had little congestion impact in most cases. Maureen Morgan reports that interest is growing among the Westchester business community and county government in Yonkers Contracting's guided busway technology.
