Connecticut Town Down to One Bus
In Wallingford CT, local bus service will dwindle to just one bus route and the Wallingford Transit District will disband, giving over supervision of the remaining service to ConnDOT. The District would've celebrated its 25th birthday this year, but when it could not lower costs and raise ridership enough to convince DOT to continue support of the three bus routes, it decided to dissolve the all volunteer board and lay off the bus system manager. The bus routes were mainly between developments for older adults and local stores. While some of that service will remain, after school pick-ups to transport Wallingford schoolchildren will be discontinued. Hartford Courant.
