
Strikes Loom
Both Metro-North and NJ Transit face the possibility of labor strikes, and both agencies, unlike the LIRR are preparing contingency plans and advising commuters now to devise alternate plans to get to work. Metro-North Railroad workers have promised to wait until July 15--after the Special Olympics World Games, being staged in and around New Haven, conclude. NJ Transit workers, whose strike would technically be illegal, have threatened a June 30 walkout.
