Bandwagon is Alt-Fueled
An order issued by Massachusetts Gov. William Weld adds Boston to the list of cities that have taken the "no new diesels" pledge. Weld announced last week that the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority must begin using buses that run on compressed natural gas, electricity or bio-diesel fuel. The first vehicles should be on the streets next summer. In Connecticut, the Westport Transit District introduced the state's first wholly non-diesel bus fleet two weeks ago. The district used federal air quality/transportation funds to buy the nine buses, and Southern CT Gas is financing a natural gas filling station. CT Post, UPI
