In spite of overwhelming opposition from a 300-plus crowd at a Dec. 14 "information session," NJ DOT has begun advertising for bidders on the $75 million, four-lane Hightstown Bypass. Opponents say the plan will increase the tide of through truck traffic in the area. A DOT spokesperson said the project's financing could come from NJ's Transportation Trust Fund.
