Around the Region: Livery Drivers Want to Pick People Up Too

The Metropolitan Livery Assoc. (MLA) last month filed an anti-trust suit against the City of New York, charging that the city violates the Sherman Anti-Trust Act by granting yellow cabs exclusive rights to pick up street hails. The plaintiffs said yellow cabs' monopoly on curbside hails hurts NYC residents who are non-white or who live outside Manhattan, as some medallion drivers refuse to pick them up or don't serve the outer boroughs.
