Around the Region: NJ Anti-Truck Rally
Truck impact issues have emerged prominently in New Jersey's 12th Congressional District Democratic primary. Candidate Carl Mayer staged an anti-truck rally last week in Lawrence as part of his campaign to ban 18-wheelers from local roads. David Del Vecchio, another candidate, said he would push to have NJ Turnpike tolls reduced to get trucks back on the highways. The linking of the NJ and NY segments of I-287 in 1993 without any impact analyses produced a wave of trucks on local highways in central New Jersey. Trenton Times
