The Fairfield County Information Exchange reports that intra-Connecticut commuting on Metro-North has increased 121% in the last seven years. Metro-North fare policies have helped propel the growth -- since 1993, the railroad has cut rates on monthly passes for CT-CT and reverse-peak commutes. This has increased ridership and revenue at the same time that fares have risen for traditional CT-New York City commutes and traffic congestion has continued to worsen on I-95.
