Though there has been much talk about NJ Transit's Midtown Direct Morris & Essex line boosting property values along the line, there have been costs as well. Roxbury, near the end of the line, says trains are spewing diesel fumes and rattling historic houses at all hours. NJ Transit's Port Morris railyard was expanded to launch Midtown Direct. The town wants NJ Transit to develop fencing and a berm with extensive plantings to buffer nearby residents from the yard. Otherwise, the town plans to demand that the state hand over some of its Midtown Direct revenues so it can do the job itself.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
