Bridgewater, New Jersey residents say that a NJ DOT plan to
set up a crosswalk in town is a disaster waiting to happen. The agency
plans to paint a crosswalk at a section of Route 202/206, which pedestrians
use to reach the mall. But the Township Council says that a crosswalk is
inadequate to protect pedestrians and could make the crossing more dangerous
by luring walkers into the highway. Bridgewater Mayor and DOT are meeting
to discuss the possibility of installing a traffic light or a pedestrian
overpass at the crossing. Courier News
