Around the Region - Straphangers Posters
Win Awards
The ad agency that designed the Straphangers Campaign's posters
assailing slow service and overcrowding on NYC buses and subways took first-place
honors at this year's Pollie Awards, an award of the political advertising
industry. Partially as a result of the ads, Governor Pataki announced the
MTA would increase subway and bus service. The ads displayed photos of
a sardine can and of a snail and urged commuters to demand funding for
better transit service (MTR
#191).
