Around the Region - "Incident Management"
Trucks Could Relieve Traffic
The NYPD and NY State DOT added to NYC's "incident management"
capability this week, launching a fleet of 10 rescue trucks equipped with
gas, oil, jumper cables and phones (to call in tow trucks if necessary).
Officials said 60% of all highway delays are caused by breakdowns or accidents.
The trucks will primarily patrol the Long Island Van Wyck and Bruckner
Expressways during rush hours. Daily News
