It was thought that the project represented a watershed in how citizens can affect traffic problems because much of the project was designed by community representatives - making it less likely that community-favored solutions would be ignored by DOT.
But according to T.A., early signs are that DOT is focusing on spot
pedestrian improvements rather than reducing through-traffic. But the
main goal of the neighborhood groups backing the study is to reduce overall
car volumes on area streets.
