NJ Transit Wednesday took steps toward studying an extension of the South Jersey Light-Rail from Trenton's train station to the State House. It also agreed to spend $800,000 on designs to rebuild the train station. The city has deemed the light rail extension a means to ease traffic congestion and boost the economic vitality of the city by bringing thousands of riders through the downtown each day on the light-rail's trolley-like cars.
