Support for NJ Variable Tolls
On Wednesday, central New Jersey's Home News Tribune wrote
in support of New Jersey Turnpike Authority director Ed Gross' announcement
that the agency would introduce a price break between peak and off-peak
tolls for passenger cars. "...it's a welcome suggestion to reduce
the impossible traffic during morning and evening rush hours...In New Jersey,
where traffic dominates, [off-peak discounts] could be a quality-of-life
saver," said the paper.
New Jersey Online (www.nj.org), conducted an informal survey on the
issue this week. On Wednesday and Thursday, it asked readers if they would
change their driving patterns or habits if the Turnpike raised tolls during
peak hours. Of over 500 respondents, nearly 61% answered "yes."
