Larry Silverman, head of the LIRR Riders' Council, told the NY Post, "There's been a significant decline in the ability to maintain the fleet. The result is late and crowded trains - which, unfortunately, is a continuation of last year's pattern of failure."
Railroad officials say the problems will be corrected when its new engines
and cars are on the rails, but putting them into operation has been delayed.
