The Trailer Bridge barge company recently added an "Atlantic Highway" route directly connecting the ports of New York and Jacksonville over the Atlantic Ocean, bypassing congested interstates. According to Trailer Bridge, the tugs pulling their vessels are considerably more fuel-efficient than trucks or rail. The Atlantic Highway could mitigate safety, emissions, noise, and quality-of-life issues that worsen every year along I-95.
