For the past year, community and transportation groups, together with the Bronx Borough President and Congressman Jose Serrano's office, have been meeting with NYMTC and the NY State DOT about highway issues in the Bronx.
The second major product from the collaboration -- a technical memo on the traffic effects of removing the 1-mile Sheridan Expressway, as a number of South Bronx community organizations, the Environmental Justice Alliance and the Campaign have recommended -- is nearing completion. Although NYS DOT is still working out the details of the final release of the findings, the document will likely be ready next month.
