Just as the public debate over cell phones and safe driving reaches full swing (Hang Up the Car Phones! the Daily News recently opined), Scenic Hudson reveals that NY State is party to a "master plan for wireless communication" that calls for 36 new "cell towers" along the Taconic State Parkway. The Taconic aspect of the plan certainly looks like a big step toward making car phones as convenient as possible along the highway. Scenic Hudson says the plan also violates the Taconic corridor management plan's conservation provisions, and is calling on citizens to contact NY State DOT about it. Scenic Hudson, 914-473-4440.
