TA Ride Showcases Borough Greenways
Participants in Transportation Alternatives' NYC Century bike tour of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx on Sept. 10th experienced new improvements to NYC's emerging greenway network. Improved and new pathways along the route included those in Queens' Highland Park, Cunningham Park and along Flushing Bay. Riders in the Bronx were treated to the route through the newly renovated Soundview Park. Older paths along the Bronx' Mosholu Parkway and adjoining Van Cortlandt Park are decrepit and make strong candidates for priority fix-up projects. Abrupt right-angle turns along the path in Cunningham Park suggest that everyday cyclists should play a stronger role in the city's ongoing planning work in this area.
