EPA: Thumbs Down on Meadowlands Mall
Last Wednesday, the US EPA sent a letter to the Army Corps of Engineers
indicating that it would veto any wetlands filling permits granted to the
Mills Corps. for at least three of five proposals to construct a 2.5 million
square foot mega-mall and office complex in the Meadowlands. In part, the
agency cited the absence of alternatives analyses for the proposed four-lane
extension of Route 120 that would bisect a large tract of undeveloped wetlands
(MTR #280).
