Ferry Flailing

Recent press investigations suggest conditions on Staten Island Ferry boats and terminals have declined since the city eliminated the boat's fare in 1997.

The Staten Island Advance recently found far less attention to aesthetics and cleanliness in the ferry terminals as compared to conditions at the Port Authority bus terminal and Grand Central.

A Channel 11 report last week also found evidence that safety preparedness on the boats had declined in recent years.
