NY State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver recently convened a meeting between MTA Chair Peter Kalikow, NYC transportation chief Iris Weinshall and Chinatown community activists who have pushed for a less disruptive plan for subway service during the next phase of Manhattan Bridge work. It is unclear whether the agencies will implement requests like extending a subway shuttle from Chinatown to W. 4th St., adding M-train service or implementing a Manhattan Bridge bus lane, but the officials said they would “consider” such improvements. |
