Crackdown Pits Stop & Go Tolls Against True Promise of E-ZPass
New Jersey toll authorities began stricter speed limit enforcement for E-ZPass lanes last Sunday, eliciting calls for installation of high-speed toll plazas.

Ferrer, Vallone: City Should Pay More for Transit
Candidates for NYC mayor  said the City must pay its fair share for transit improvements if it expects continued help from Albany and Washington.

NJ Jitneys: Undelivered
The Bergen Record reported last week that New Jersey Transit has again delayed delivery of rail station access jitney vehicles to 16 municipalities.

Funding for NYC: Unspent
Last weekend, Newsday outlined a number of NYC projects that received funding earmarks in 1998's massive transportation bill, but have yet to get  off the ground.

Chinatown Transit Advocates, Silver Win
An 11th hour agreement announced Thursday will provide new services to the Grand St. Station, previously orphaned by Manhattan Bridge repair subway rerouting.

Reclaiming Times Square
NYC DOT has begun widening sidewalks in Times Square, along both 7th Avenue and Broadway to make more space for the area's overflowing pedestrian traffic.

NYC Council Squeezes Accordion Buses
A NYC Council study of the M79 and M86 bus routes has found that NYC Transit's over-sized articulated buses had more crashes than regular transit buses.
