Issue 412 April 21, 2003
Derek Turner, chief architect of London’s congestion pricing scheme, will be the opening speaker at the Regional Plan Association’s annual Regional Assembly, to be held Friday, April 25 in Midtown Manhattan. In just a few months, congestion pricing in central London has dramatically reduced traffic and improved circulation by buses and pedestrians. Another European guest will be Pasqual Maragall, former Mayor of Barcelona, who will discuss hosting the Olympic Games as part of a larger "public realm" urban strategy.
