NY State Proposes New West Street Option

IA public meeting notice issued last week appears to respond to complaints expressed this summer about the curtailed environmental review the NY State Department of Transportation had proposed for the reconstruction of West Street near the World Trade Center site.

The death of Giulia Lewis on 80th Avenue in Queens last week has refocused attention on the problem of pedestrian safety, and a city transportation and legal system that doesn't take the issue seriously enough.

 

Westchester Riders in Line as Next Bus Funding Crisis Victims

Just two weeks after county funding for Long Island Bus was saved, the Hudson Valley Journal-News reports that Westchester County’s Bee Line service may drastically reduce service on certain bus routes.

 

Unlimited Ride MetroCards Not Yet in Business at PATH

The Port Authority said this week that unlimited ride NYC Transit MetroCards would not be compatible with fare collection at stations along the rebuilt downtown PATH line.

 

ConnDOT Presses I-95 Expansion Plan

Based on the public comments received earlier this year,  the Connecticut DOT has "added a step" to the process for its I-95 "Commuter Shoulders" project.
