Our fax version last week mistakenly stated that Giulia Lewis was run over on Queens Boulevard. The fatal crash was on Queens’ 80th Avenue. The Daily News reported last week that state lawmakers were responding to the paper’s call to action to fix vague statutes that make it difficult for New York prosecutors to charge deadly drivers. State Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno said he would act to change the law. State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver said his house would convene hearings on the issue.
