Bottom-Feeding in New Jersey: McGreevey's Tax for Tolls Scheme

By proposing to abolish Garden State Parkway tolls, Governor McGreevey has badly muddied the waters around his transportation commission's recommendation to raise New Jersey's gas tax to boost investment in transportation infrastructure. 

 

Dealing with the MTA's Debt Bomb

The MTA's ballooning debt, long warned of by transit advocates (See MTR #s 112, 264, 275, 399 and others), has finally arrived as common knowledge by journalists, elected officials and other observers of the NY State fiscal landscape.

 

What's in NJ's Transport Finance Report

The report released during the shortened Thanksgiving week by Governor McGreevey's commission on transportation finance not only calls for raising the state gas tax, as we reported in MTR #438, but also depicts a system badly in need of increased investment.
