New Jersey - Streamlining Sprawl?

Last week, it took just three days and no formal debate for the NJ legislature to pass a bill to make sweeping changes to project review processes in one third of the state.

 

Crunch Time for West Side Plans

New York environmental groups last week challenged a bill developed by Governor Pataki to speed redevelopment of the Jacob Javits Convention Center - and possibly construction of an adjacent football stadium - on Manhattan's Far West Side.

The logjam around NYC Transit's proposed renovation of the South Ferry subway station in lower Manhattan appeared to break up on Friday.

 

Sorting out Downtown Priorities

The Civic Alliance, comprised of city-wide and downtown organizations interested in Lower Manhattan's recovery, recently resolved to oppose a plan to put West Street in a tunnel where it passes the World Trade Center site. 

 

Rowland Promises New Train Fleet

Governor Rowland announced recently that the state would buy 340 new rail cars - basically an entire new fleet.
