Transit will likely foot the bill for free PATH trips that will be offered
to train riders during the Republican National Convention and associated
disruptions at Penn Station. One third of NYC-bound NJ Transit trains
during the convention will be re-routed to Hoboken, requiring the PATH
switch. NJ Transit will reportedly reimburse PATH for the “free”
trips, but will not seek payment from convention organizers. Transit is
considering the convention as a special circumstance or event.
