A.2605, a law increasing the fine for drivers violating crosswalk laws by $50 and dedicating the revenue to a new pedestrian safety fund was passed by the NJ Senate on March 21. The bill, approved by the Assembly last year, awaits only Acting Governor Codey’s signature before becoming law. But A.619, a bill that requires motorists to stop for pedestrians in or waiting to enter crosswalks, was passed by the Assembly in March of 2004 and has awaited a hearing from the Senate Transportation Committee for over a year. |
