What This Site Is

This website is meant to show how, using simple tools, the Port Authority could create an easy-to-navigate central clearinghouse of bus route information. This site is the online portion of a 2009 TSTC report, Express Route to Better Bus Service, that recommends many other ways to improve bus service across the Hudson River.

The Port Authority website provides no information about the carriers that stop at the PA Bus Terminal, other than their websites and phone numbers.

This means that if Jane Smith wants to learn how to get to Somerset County using the PA's website, she must visit the individual carrier websites one by one, with no hints as to which carrier will bring her to Somerset. That is not acceptable customer service.

We hope this website helps fill the void of information for bus riders and is eventually replaced by an expanded Port Authority site.

(This information is accurate as of May 2009, but can change in the future. If the Port Authority operated an online resource, it could require that private carriers using its facilities provide it with up-to-date commuter information.)
